Job Seeker Services
Education Canada Network provides job seekers with a number of services. There are two general types of services accessible via Education Canada Network. Some of the services are readily accessible, which require no registration or login process, while others require job seekers to register via a quick and confidential process.
Readily Accessible Services:
The following services are easily accessible by job seekers who simply visit Education Canada Network. There are no costs or registration requirements to access the following.
- Browse Jobs
With a couple clicks, browse job opportunities in different provinces and territories. Simply click on a province or territory's link to view all the employers.
- Search Jobs
Via Education Canada Network's easy-to-use job search form, users of the site can quickly find the job that best suits their experience, qualifications and interest.
- Apply to Jobs
Each job posting provide details on how to apply to jobs posted. Simply read and follow the instructions on each posting and submit your application for consideration.
- Research Employers
Every subscribing employer provides job seekers an information profile about their school(s). Users can then view the profiles and acquire valuable information about the employer. The profile also contains links back to the employer's own web page, so further research can be conducted by the job seeker.
- Browse Career & Other Professional Resources
Via Education Canada Network's Resource Centre, users can find valuable resume and interview tips, salary information, contact information for teacher certification and other useful resources.
- Network with Colleagues
Participate in a variety of online discussions to share your experience and teaching philosophy.
Registered Services:
The following services are accessible to job seekers upon registering with ECN. There is no cost to register!
- Resume Upload
Job Seekers can upload their own resume documents or fill out ECN's form resume. This resume will then be made available to subscribing employers to search and view.
- Educator E-Portfolio
In order to create a better picture of a job seeker's credentials, registered applicants can create a personal electronic portfolio. This portfolio will be searchable by employers as well as become an attachment to any jobs that candidate applies to online.
- Cover Letter Upload
To ensure registered job seekers can submit a complete application package to employers, they can upload their own cover letter(s) along with other selected documents, which will be attached to any application via ECN's Apply Online function.
- Other Document Upload
Registered applicants can provide employers additional information they may need by uploading up to 10 other documents to their application. These documents could include a scanned copy of a job seeker's registration documents, transcripts or university degrees, reference letters, work study reports, criminal records checks, etc ...
- JobBot Notification
By registering, job seekers can create a "jobbot." A jobbot is an email notification system whereby job seekers can select the type of job they are looking for. When new jobs are added to ECN, those job seekers will receive an email that lists the new jobs.
- Apply Online
Employers have the option to accept applications directly from ECN's database. When you see an "Apply Online" button on a job opportunity, this is an indicator that job seekers can submit their cover letter, resume and other documents they have posted in ECN's database.
- Bookmark Employers
Job seekers can save an employer's profile and job opportunities with a simple click. Once saved, a job seeker can regularly monitor any new jobs posted by that school.
- E-Newsletters & Publications
Upon registering with ECN, job seekers can sign-up for informative electronic newsletters. These publications provide valuable information on ECN's services, resources and employment opportunities found on the site. These are opt-in newsletters.
