Lake Babine Nation Info

The Lake Babine Nation has membership of 2200 people both on-reserve, and off-reserve. The total population on reserve is 1900 band members on the three (3) main communities of Woyenne Reserve in Burns Lake, BC, Tachet Reserve in Granisle, BC, and the Fort Babine Reserve outside Smithers, BC.
There are six (6) band operated schools within the nation, and over 200 students in the public schools of the School District No. 91. There is also a Daycare in the community of Woyenne.

The Lake Babine Nation consists of 10 councillors, a Chief Councillor, and a total of nine (9) councillors from each of the communities. There is a main administration office in the Woyenne Reserve, with a General Manager and a vacant Education Director position with two administrative staff for education, Education Coordinator for Post-Secondary, and an Elementary/Secondary Coordinator. Each of the schools has a teacher, teachers' aids, and youth workers. The band offers programs other than Education, such as Health and Wellness, Social Development, Fisheries, and other upcoming program under Forestry and Economic Development.

There are other band offices located on each of the associated offices in Tachet and Fort Babine. They are staffed with an Assistant Manager, and various staff under Health, Social Development, Administration.
