Details:
NNCEA is seeking a person for the above position to March 2018 with possibility for extension. The successful candidate will be responsible to research & write the needed curriculum/documents for the Nehetho language and culture project.. Under the direction of the assigned Administrator, the team will be responsible for the phasing in of Cree immersion of N/K for 2018-19, promoting Aboriginal perspectives into the curriculum and providing language and cultural supports/activities to students/ teachers in general. The Curriculum Designer/Specialist works under the Advisor/Coordinator who would be accountable to the Nehetho Language/Culture Team Administrator.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
-to be the major lead in conducting the exploratory research & writings in collaboration with the team
-to prepare, draft & finalize all documents to develop the Nehetho (Cree) curriculum for nursery/Kindergarten
-follows relevant guidelines, standards & best practices, etc. Rewrites and revises content as needed
-to assist with the creation of culturally appropriate activities/events & integration of Nehetho cultural perspectives in NNCEA classrooms
-set up a personal work space with all needed materials/equipment
- to prepare/submit regular activity reports
-performs other assigned tasks accordingly and willingness to assist

QUALIFICATIONS:
-minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in education with five years teaching experiences in N/K-grade 3
-experience writing curriculum (teacher guides, class exercises, tests, etc.) and/or courses, able to convey relevant/concise concepts at appropriate age/grade level
-expertise with internet, computers, word processing tools and various computer programs
-strong editing and proofreading skills and verifies work with accuracy
-excellent communication skills (oral & written)

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
-work with minimal direction, team player -able to perform responsibilities diligently
-excellent communication/computer/technical skills -responsible/discreet in carrying out duties
-working knowledge of Nehetho language/culture -reliable, punctual, maintains confidentiality
-a valid driver’s license & own vehicle are assets
