Acadia University was founded in 1838 and is located in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, a town of 3,800 people located approximately one hundred kilometres northwest of Halifax. The university's annual enrolment is approximately 3,500 full-time students. Degrees, diplomas and certificates are awarded in the disciplines comprising the Faculties of Arts, Pure and Applied Science, Professional Studies, and Theology, and in several disciplines at the masters level. Although many of its programs offer professional training to meet the needs of society, Acadia University remains firmly within the liberal education tradition.
