Our Agency is a unique organization responsible for the delivery of education, health and child and family programs and services in the Tlicho communities of Behchokö (formerly Rae-Edzo), Gamètì, (Rae Lakes) , Wekweetì (Snare Lakes) and Whatì (Lac la Martre) of the Northwest Territories, Canada. We are committed to deliver these programs and services in the spirit of “strong like two people”, a quote from a Tlicho elder which speaks to the importance of using the strengths of two cultures in our work.
The purpose of the Agency is to improve the health, wellness and education of the people of the Tlicho communities by providing a range of easily accessible, integrated programs and services to all people. Our Agency manages five schools in four communities ranging from kindergarten to grade 12. These schools provide educators with very different experiences...from a two teacher K-9 school with 22 children in a beautiful fly-in community located on the edge of the Barrens to a large (by northern standards) K-12 school with over 400 children and 28 teachers and many support staff!
We are an award winning organization proud of our innovation and achievements:
*2006 Silver IPAC Award for
*2007 Society for the
Advancement of Education chose
our Chief Jimmy Bruneau School
as one of 10 exceptional
aboriginal schools in Canada.
*2007 UN Public Service Award
Come work with us for the experience of a lifetime!
