KERC was established in 2002 by Chiefs due to the results of grade 9 testing, the mandate then was / is to address the academic gaps by:
Developing bilingual & bicultural curriculum to develop district education standards
Developing instructional resources & materials
Providing professional development & training to develop capacity to leadership and staff
Establishing a Resource Centre
Providing second level education services to 23 communities
Current 2nd Level Services Provided by KERC
Curriculum development & instructional resources
Development of immersion programming
Capacity building & development for leadership
Professional development & training for school staff
Development of standard assessment tools & data
Education initiatives FNSSP, New Paths, EPP
In-school support services to 23 schools
Consultant services (as requested) school reviews, administrative supports, etc
Provides support & assistance to 1st level services
