Pikangikum is an Ojibway community of over 2000 people, situated in Northwestern Ontario. It is located fifteen minutes north of Red Lake by air and accessible over a road during the winter. The school has a staff of 60 teachers, paraprofessionals, and elders and a student body in excess of 650 students. Our school accomodates students from K4 to Grade 12, with a Special Education Department as well.
The language of instruction at the school is English but the Pikangikum Education Authority strives to preserve the Ojibway language and culture also. Students are taught by the local staff their native language and customs 45 minutes a day. The school is equipped with a wide variety of technology, including computers in every classroom and high-speed internet. Our annual plans follow the Ontario curriculum.
