The Community of Mishkeegogamang First Nation (New Osnaburgh) is a drive-in community 30 kilometers south of Pickle Lake. It is about a 5 hour drive on paved highway from Thunder Bay. We are approximately 2 hours from Sioux Lookout by paved highway.
It is a full service community of approximately 900 people. The Ojibway people have a Nursing Station and Police Station. Most shopping is done in Pickle Lake (20 minute drive) and groceries are fresh.
Missabay Community School is an award winning school for it's design and is nestled on a beautiful lake. Canoes are available for teachers to use. The fishing is fantastic. A skidoo is also available for use. The teacherages all have satellite television and are beside the lake and near the school. There is a variety of wildlife including eagles, lynx and caribou to see.
The school is a new facility with K-8 grades. Each classroom has computers that are connected to the web via satellite. The new computer lab has flat screen monitors. There is a large gymnasium and library. The students go for Native Language instruction every day.
Missabay is a private Band Operated school. Enrolment is approximately 134 students. Thank you but only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
