Keewaytinook Internet High School (KiHS) is an Aboriginal operated Private School offering grades 9 and 10 to Native youth located in isolated, fly-in communities in Northwestern Ontario. It is the first internet high school approved by the Ontario Ministry of Education. KiHS is under the auspices of Keewaytinook Okimakanak (Northern Chiefs Council) in partnership with twelve participating communities from a variety of Tribal Council affiliations.
KiHS programming provides accredited provincial courses to learners who otherwise would have to leave home at the age of 14 to attend an urban high school, and live in an unfamiliar cultural environment.
KIHS students attend classes on a regular school day basis and are under the direction of a classroom teacher (you) and part time local computer technician. Students have computers on a 1:1 basis.
You function as a teacher in two roles.
As a mentor, you live in one of the participating communities, and facilitate the learning for a class of 10-15 students in a regular classroom setting.
As an instructor, you teach one course each semester ONLINE to students in all participating communities. You will be trained to adapt provincial curriculum to an online delivery for Aboriginal learners.

Some participating communities have teaching opportunities for married couples with one person teaching elementary, and one teaching at KiHS.
KiHS is meant for teachers who enjoy the outdoors, who wish to experience Aboriginal culture, and most importantly, who want to be on the cutting edge of program delivery via distance education.
