More than 1500 people live in the community of Ile-a-la Crosse,located in picturesque Northwestern Saskatchewan. The town is situated on a peninsula that extends eighteen kilometers out into Lake Ile-a-la Crosse. This lake is part of the Churchill River system that voyagers once used to cross Northern Saskatchewan on their way further west or north into the Northwest Territories by way of the Clearwater and Athabasca Rivers. The community is well over 200 years old and has a rich heritage founded on the early fur trade and on missionary influence. Ile-a-la Crosse offers a variety of cultural and recreational opportunities throughout the year.
