On November 25th 2005, Kopahawakenum School officially opened to serve the community of Flying Dust. The beautifully designed school hosts a pre-kindergarten program to grade 4. With its tyndall stone exterior and open wood beam interior the school has created an environment for learning that is comfortable and provides amble natural light for the students. The school is part of the Meadow Lake Tribal Council Education Group and has a good relationship with its neighbor North West School Division. Kopahawakenum School promotes a strong balanced literacy program while incorporating language and culture into the school identity. The future looks bright for Kopahawakenum school with an expansion of the school in the planning stage.
