Brief Description:


To facilitate the academic and personal development of students sharing this responsibility with faculty, staff and families. In addition, to do what is necessary to help students in with special needs and medical conditions.

Detailed Description:


The Counsellor conducts individual and group counseling sessions e.g. study problems, adjustment, resolving and communication.

Liaises with students’ families and community agencies as appropriate.

Designs and conducts Student Development Workshops on relevant student centered topics (i.e. time management, conflict resolution, leadership, team building, and goal setting).

Assists students with special needs and medical conditions and advocates with supervisors and faculty as needed.

Participates in college programs related to student success (i.e. new student orientation, peer tutoring programs, health and wellness activities).

Counsel students regarding educational issues, such as course and program selection, registration, study habits and college adjustment.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Line manager.

Job Requirements: 


Bachelor in Psychology is required

Master degree in Psychology or related specialty is preferred

Three years or more of counseling experience in a college or university setting is required.

Similar period of experience, where the use of counseling/specialty was used productively in an environment of different ethnicity, gender, ages, and cultures.

Additional Details:

Decision and problem solving skills.

Skill of being able to recognize own prejudices .

Built in ability to understand people.

Skill in making oral presentations of assessments, diagnostics, home visits, and observations.
